Renew your MLO License with NMLS Approved Continuing Education
If you already have an MLO license, you will need to complete at least 8 hours of national continuing education.
Under the guidelines of the SAFE Act -The Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act, National 8 hour continuing education topics are broken down by hours:
- 3 hours Federal Law and Regulations
- 2 hours of Ethics
- 2 hours of Non-Traditional Mortgage Lending
- 1 hour of Electives
Each State can Add Requirements for MLO Continuing Education
Each MLO must complete a total of 8 nationally recognized hours. Some states will want you to earn additional state-specific hours for continuing education such as California and Florida. In most cases, the MLO CE you complete in one state will also be able to count toward your CE hours in other states. For state-specific requirements in your state, be sure to visit the NMLS for the most updated regulations.
