The Most Popular Method of Learning Online

There are many methods for learning a new profession. Some prefer to read a book, while others wish to attend a live class. The truth is that most Americans have busy schedules and choose to learn via Online Instructor-Led Courses. This is one reason why the majority of new Mortgage Loan Officers in the United States have been completing their education through online video lessons, quizzes, and exams to meet NMLS and State requirements.

Online training is the perfect option for education because you can review the lessons anytime. By learning this way, there are fewer distractions than live Zoom or live classroom training. Rather than spending time driving to a live class or waiting for a Zoom break to end, you can start and stop MLO lessons when you take online instructor-led modules.

Online Instructor-led (OIL) NMLS Course Scheduling Specifics

During the time period in which the course is being offered, instructors are required to hold students accountable for attendance and work and must be responsive to student’s assignments and questions just as they would be in a physical classroom. An online instructor-led course that is thirteen (13) or more hours may not be scheduled to extend longer than 14 calendar days after the start time. If you start a MLO 20-Hour course, it must be completed within 14 days, which is reasonable.

Every course is to be designed appropriately for adult learners such that it contains sufficient content and/or activities to meet the minimum time requirement of 50 seat minutes for each clock hour the course is approved. Course design must ensure that the minimum time required by the SAFE Act is received for the specific course topics.
